In-House Breeders
Chuckwallas (S. obesus)
Of the South Mt.
Carrot-tailed Chucks, we currently
have 1 trio of breeding age with one hold back pair of juvies for future
breeders. Of the Crater
Mt. Red-backs, we only have a few juvies so that project is still gearing up. I
do purchase some from a colleague who hatches some each fall so we hope to have
a few extras to sell later this year or mid winter 2009. I no longer keep
Angel islands but again have a colleague I buy from so again we should
have a few available in the fall. Of the San Estebon Island chucks we only
have a pair of juvies as well so they are several years out from producing any
offspring. Those will be for instate (Washington) sale only due to special
permitting requirements.
Our Calico Chuckwallas
(Angel Island-San Estebons
intergrades) are finally old enough to breed and we got our first eggs this June
(2008). With luck we might have a very few to release late this winter or
next spring, once we get a chance to try and sex the offspring.
We are
